What do you do when someone doesn't deal with their own mental health issues? Has it ever become a problem or created issues in your own life? How do you handle the situation?

When someone doesn’t address their mental health, it can affect those around them if their behavior becomes unpredictable or draining. I try to distance, avoid taking on their emotional burden, and encourage them to seek help.

I already have my own issues with dealing with my ADHD. Plus, I'm trying to find out if I am on the autism spectrum as well. I ended up having to distance myself from someone else because they wouldn't address their own issues. I've already got my hands full with my own stuff......I don't have enough room to deal with someone else's stuff too. It was too draining.

It can be difficult for some people to be there for other people who have their own mental health issues. I think some people need to distance themselves because having to worry about your own health and another person's becomes way too much for someone to handle. I can handle both my issues and my wife's issues. It's hard when my friends tell me they're not doing great since I focus on my health and my wife's first before anyone else's.

Unfortunately, I have been in this situation many times, and it has resulted in me having to step back and move away from that person because I was dealing with my own mental health issues and health issues, and it was just getting me down and making me feel worse than I was.

I am actually in this situation now, in which they are talking about their own problems but then trying to make me feel bad and guilty for things I choose to do that I know benefit me, my mental health, my overall health and that I should be able to do when it comes to living my life, and this may be another situation where I may step back and walk away if it continues.

I understand that everyone has issues, especially when it comes to mental health, and I will always be there for those who need someone to talk to or be there for them, but when it gets to a point where you are only thinking about yourself and not thinking about how I may be feeling, then it may be time to walk away for a while.
