Some students put enormous pressure on themselves even when their grades are already good. A small mistake can feel like proof that they are failing. How does perfectionism contribute to academic stress and anxiety, and what can parents or teachers say that encourages effort without adding more pressure?

I think perfectionism can make school stressful because a good grade may still feel disappointing if it isn’t perfect. A small mistake can become much bigger in the student’s mind. Parents and teachers can focus on effort, learning, and progress rather than constantly emphasizing grades or achievement.

Perfectionism can make good grades feel disappointing because students may focus more on small mistakes than what they actually achieved. Parents and teachers can help by praising effort, progress, and learning rather than expecting perfect results. Reminding students that mistakes are part of learning can also take some pressure away.

I think perfectionism can make student life much more stressful. When every assignment or exam feels like it has to be perfect, even small mistakes can feel like failures. I’ve found that putting too much pressure on getting everything right can make studying less enjoyable and create constant worry.
