My dad was a bad alcoholic when I was growing up. It got to the point where he got sick and had to end up in the hospital not long after I graduated high school back in 2008. He was 42 years old at the time, and had to go to rehab for a week. We almost lost him to it too, so that was a pretty dark time in my life. Have you dealt with alcoholism in your life? I hope you can get the help you need if you're dealing with this, I've heard it's a very painful way to go and it's a dangerous way to cope with mental health issues.

No, I haven’t dealt with alcoholism personally. But I do have a few relatives who are struggling with it, and in their case it seems closely linked with depression. It’s a difficult cycle, where emotional pain and alcohol use reinforce each other.

I have never tasted alcohol in my life. I am very grateful that I didn't try it. That probably would have been the addiction that I would have struggled to control. I have had friends that were alcoholics struggle so badly to break free.
