Are We Honest Enough About Loneliness in Friendships?

People often talk about loneliness in romantic contexts, but what about friendships that fade or feel one-sided? Have you ever felt isolated even while surrounded by friends? How do you rebuild genuine connection as an adult?

Some people can't talk about how lonely they are because the stigma about loneliness in the world today is that it is a personal failure of the person that is feeling lonely. They would be judged for being anti social and sometimes rejected for expressing their loneliness to their friends.

Not always. People often hide feelings of loneliness to avoid judgment or conflict, even within close friendships. This can create emotional distance and unmet needs. Open conversations about expectations, support, and connection are essential to address loneliness honestly and strengthen relationships.
