Depression can be categorized into different groups based on the symptoms and severity. Sometimes people are unable to identify what kind of depression they have. It is very important to know the type of depression in order to treat it. Bipolar depression or unipolar depression (also called major depression) are some of the two common types of depression. According to WHO data, around the world about 4 percent people suffer from depressive illness of which 0.5 percent is bipolar and about 5.7 percent suffer from major or unipolar depression.

Bipolar depression is part of bipolar disorder, where patient might experience periods of mania/hypomania (highs) among other depression symptoms (sadness, loneliness, etc.) and major depression only involves low mood phases without the manic highs.

Have you ever dealt with any kind of depression? How did you over come?
