Most older Gen Alpha children were still in middle or Elementary school when the lockdowns were happening during the COVID pandemic. Because of this they had to use laptops and have remote classes, so they could only interact with their peers and teachers via Zoom. Do you believe this has affected the mental state of Gen Alpha? This was 6 years ago now, and I think it has done something to negatively affect mental health in Gen Alpha. Not being able to physically interact with other children, and the distractions of being in school at home probably also affected how they learned and some could have developed learning disabilities.

COVID likely affected Gen Alpha’s mental health and development, but “severely altered” is too broad to say for everyone.

What we do know is that disruptions like school closures, reduced social interaction, and increased screen time had noticeable effects on attention, social skills, and anxiety levels for some children.

But impact varies a lot. Some adapted well or even benefited from more flexible learning environments, while others struggled with isolation and routine changes. So it’s more accurate to say it created uneven developmental and emotional effects rather than a single, uniform outcome.
