Does reading books help to change your mood?

I recently found out that whenever I am having a mood swing, there are some books that I'm going to pick up and read which is going to help and work on my mood and make it to come back to something normal.

I normally pick up adventure and some romantic books. Once I start reading them, my mood is going to be retrace back to being normal again.

Do you read books to work on your mood?
 
It does help but I prefer to watch a movie especially on days I'm very bored. watching a nice movie can actually changed my mood.

Reading helps me to stabilize my mood. In fact reading is one of my favorite coping mechanism when I am too much stressed out or depressed. I mostly read feel good books when I feel low.
