Have you ever watched a show or movie that was just too close to your real life, or maybe it takes places somewhere you hated or disliked, like school, or work? I sometimes can't handle medical dramas and comedies because of my anxiety about seeing doctors. I've had my share of doctors visits and ER visits, so I am kind of iffy on medical shows or movies for that reason. Though there are a few I do want to watch, I always end up giving up on them.

Are there any shows or movies that you can't watch because it reminds you about something in your life?

Yes, I often avoid medical or legal dramas—they trigger memories of hospitals or stressful real-life experiences.

Yeah, definitely. Certain scenes were too close. I have stopped watching shows in the past since they reminded me of things that I was not ready to remember. It is strange that films can be intimate in that way. There are occasions when I skip those parts and other times I simply stop watching.

I rarely watch shows. I have never watched a show that resembled my life. Having said that, I can understand that certain times people may have problem watching shows because those shows may be related to their life. They may remind them about their past life events that may bother them.

Yes, I had some issues with some TV shows. Some of them remind me of a sad event before, for instance, when my late grandmother was still alive, I used to accompany her to the hospital. Therefore, there are times when I refrain from watching medical TV shows because they make me sad.
