Anything can trigger depression in people especially if they are not mentally strong enough to withstand the shock of what happened.

Have you ever lost your job which as a result made you become depressed? Did getting a new job fix the depression immediately?

Not for me, but for many people losing a job can be emotionally difficult. It often affects identity, routine, and financial security, which can contribute to stress or low mood. The impact varies depending on support systems, timing, and personal resilience during the transition period.

Yeah, that's true. It's not just losing the job that affects the person but when they stay for a while without being able to secure another job with their bills pilling up without being paid, it's a very serious challenge.

I don't think it's accurate to say that anything can trigger depression simply because someone isn't "mentally strong enough." Depression is a complex condition influenced by a mix of biological, psychological, and social factors. People who develop depression after a major setback aren't necessarily lacking mental strength.

Losing a job can absolutely be distressing. It can affect financial security, routine, identity, and confidence, so it's understandable that some people experience depression or worsening mental health afterward. But not everyone who loses a job becomes depressed.

Losing a job affected me mentally. It wasn't just about the income. I also lost my routine, confidence, and sense of purpose for a while. It took time to rebuild my confidence, stay connected with people, and remind myself that one setback didn't define my future.
