Prolonged combat exposure leads to moral injury, insomnia, and substance abuse among soldiers. How can armed forces better address psychological distress beyond standard counseling? Should emotional resilience be part of training rather than post-war treatment?

Insurgency and combat stress can heavily impact soldiers’ mental health. Exposure to violence, moral dilemmas, and constant threat can trigger anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Support systems, counseling, and structured debriefings are essential to prevent breakdowns, helping soldiers process experiences and maintain long-term psychological resilience.
