Is Self-Care Ever Selfish in Relationships?

Sometimes partners feel neglected when you prioritize rest or therapy. How can you practice self-care without making loved ones feel pushed away?

It is simple, communication is the key. Let your partner know that self-care is necessary once in a while for your general well-being. Lack of communication breaches the gap and makes individual appear selfish. Self-care helps you prioritize your self over others. It helps you keep fit and stay healthy.

It can turn out to be selfish if you prioritize your self care over the care of your significant others. I think we all deserve a bit of self care, and I think it's okay to take time for yourself. But I think your significant other also needs to be able to take their own self care if they want it.

I think we all deserve self care, but it shouldn't affect ones relationship and one should not focus on just their self care over their relationship. Because when it does, it starts to cause a rift in a relationship.

Self-care isn’t inherently selfish in relationships. I believe taking time to rest, recharge, or pursue personal growth helps me show up fully for others. It becomes problematic only when it consistently disregards partner needs or mutual responsibilities.

No, self-care is not and will never be selfish in relationships. If you do not practice self-care, you will get burned out. Just allow your partner to know that you need it so he/she understands. Make sure that you still give time to him/her.
