Is there anything like "positive addiction" or non harmful addictions?

There are some positive things that people do and everyone is cool that they are doing those things. Some things like reading, praying are all good things.

If someone is addicted to one of those good things, say reading for instance. Can that be seen to be a positive addiction? Should we be worried when one gets addicted to things that are seemingly "positive"?

Yes, some behaviors can become “positive addictions” when they consistently benefit your life without causing harm. Fir example, regular exercise, reading, meditation, or creative hobbies. They provide structure, joy, or personal growth. However, you still have to balance, if even a beneficial habit starts to interfere with responsibilities or relationships, it stops being truly healthy.

Too much of everything is a disease. I don't believe that there is anything like positive addiction. The fact that you are not in control of yourself when it comes it that thing is already harmful enough.

I think the idea of “positive addiction” exists in the sense that habits can be strongly ingrained yet beneficial. For example, daily reading habit can feel compulsive but improve life. The main thing is that they don’t harm health, relationships, or responsibilities.

I think there are such things as good addictions. Eating too healthy can be a good addiction I think. A good addiction could be your addiction to your work, or to your family life. I think as long as it's not affecting you or the people around you, it probably wouldn't be a problem. But when it starts to effect your life is when it's become a bad addiction.

There can be “positive addictions,” however, the term itself is a bit misleading. Positive addictions can be habits that are repeated frequently but generally benefit your life, like regular exercise, reading, or meditation. They can improve health, focus, and well-being, unlike harmful addictions that disrupt daily life, relationships, or mental health. However, any activity, even a positive one, can become problematic if it’s done compulsively or interferes with other important areas of life.
