Depression is a mental and emotional sickness. The symptoms that are generally associated with Depression are feeling low, no energy to carry out the daily life, feeling exhausted and not motivated, no clarity of thoughts, feeling numb etc.
There has been cases reported where a physiological condition has lead to such symptoms. And it was mistaken to be Depression. Deficiency of Vitamin D can trigger such symptoms and it can be misunderstood as Depression. That's why sometimes light therapy, that is exposure to sunlight regularly helps to improve the symptoms slowly.
Another physiological condition is the imbalance in the mineral levels in the body, especially sodium and potassium. Fluctuations in these can cause situations like Brain fog, dilerium and even coma in extreme cases. This slowing down can go for few days and months before getting diagnosed. During this period, the brain activities can get impacted and slow down showing symptoms of depression.

That’s vwey true..symptoms like fatigue, sleep changes, or appetite shifts can be caused by physical issues but are often mistaken for depression. Proper evaluation by a professional is important to distinguish between medical conditions and mental health concerns, ensuring accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Physical issues like fatigue, changes in appetite, sleep problems, or chronic pain can mimic depression. Hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, and vitamin deficiencies often create similar symptoms. To address this, medical evaluation is essential before assuming depression. Personally, I try to observe patterns carefully and encourage others to seek professional advice, but misunderstandings still happen occasionally because outward behavior alone doesn’t reveal underlying causes.
