Russian writer, Fyodor Dostoevsky once said, "I swear to you that to think too much is a disease, a real, actual disease." Dostoevsky is well known for creating intense characters who think too much.
I truly believe thinking too much can become an issue, especially mental and emotional issue. When you think, you do not always think about "good thing" or do not think of "positive ideas," you also think about negative things and bad things, and concentrating on negative things is detrimental for mental health.

Thinking itself isn’t the problem, it’s when it becomes repetitive, circular, and hard to control. At that point, it shifts from reflection to rumination. Instead of helping you understand things, it keeps you stuck in the same thoughts, often negative ones.
The mind naturally scans for problems, so when you “think too much,” it often leans toward worries, regrets, or worst-case scenarios. That’s why it can start affecting mood, sleep, and even decision-making.
