Flexible hours can increase freedom but reduce social interaction. Why does isolation affect mental health even when schedules are manageable? What strategies foster connection and wellbeing?

I am a remote worker, and based on my personal experience I can say the reason why most remote works feel isolated is because they do not have human interaction during the working hours, they cannot get assistance from their co-workers just like in a workplace, and they stare at their computers for extended hours.

I don’t work remotely, but I understand how flexible hours could still feel isolating. Even if the schedule is manageable, people still need regular interaction. Without that, it’s easy to feel disconnected. Staying in touch with coworkers, meeting friends, or working occasionally from shared spaces might help.
