Why do the rich also get depressed?

The rich people are supposed to be very comfortable and happy because they have everything life have to give. They are the first class citizens above everyone else but I don't understand why some of them also suffer from depression. They commit suicide too which is a shock to me.

There are many things in this life that money can't buy, one if such is genuine happiness. Sine wealthy people go through depression because they have issues that refuses to be resolved, it could be that the source I'd their wealth is corrupt or they acquired certain things forcefully or yet still the death of a loved one.

There is a saying that goes "Money can't buy happiness" and that is very true. As much as you can become rich, and it may solve a lot of your problems, that does not always mean that you will be happy forever. Soon you will have everything, soon you will have nothing to look forward to a lot of the time, and that can in turn, make you down and depressed even with a lot of money.

Some rich people become depressed because their money cannot solve their health issues, and so on.

The rich can be down bad just like the poor. Just because someone may be rich, doesn't mean they will be 100% happy. They may suffer from other mental health problems that weigh on them emotionally. As well, some people, even rich, can't cope with depression, anxiety, etc.

As well, money can't buy you everything. It may provide you with stability, but it doesn't mean you won't struggle in some ways.

Though if I came into a lot of money, I know for a fact it would make me a tad bit more happy. Because I would have that stability I need.

Because money cannot buy everything. There are things like love, faith, friends, trust etc cannot be bought by money , one has to earn it by his/her behaviour. And when rich people don't get them they get depressed. I have seen lots of such people who are betrayed by people even when they spend money on them.

Money can buy comfort and fulfill your basic needs. But it doesn't assure of mental peace and happiness. People in poor strata of society lead a more stressful and hard life. Meeting the basic needs also is a problem. This impacts their mental, physical and emotional health. Those who are financially secure and affluent don't face this problem. But then they might face other issues like loneliness, bad relationship, drug abuse etc that can cause mental problems.
