Why Do We Ignore Good Advice?

Sometimes we already know the right thing to do but still don't do it. What do you think gets in the way? Have you ever ignored advice only to realize later that it was right?

I think fear, comfort, and hope that things will somehow improve often get in the way. Knowing the right choice isn't always enough to act on it. I've seen many situations where advice only made sense after people experienced the consequences of ignoring it.

Knowing what to do and actually doing it are often two different challenges. Fear of change, comfort with familiar habits, or hoping the problem will solve itself can all get in the way. Looking back, advice often seems obvious in hindsight, especially after learning the same lesson through personal experience.
