AI relationships worry me.

Lately generative AI has been blowing up in popularity. Everyone is using AI now, and it's kind of hard to get away from now. Because everywhere I look I see AI images, AI videos and so on. And now we're seeing people date actual AI chatbots, to the point the person leaves their spouse and even children behind. No joke, there was a story about a man who fell for his AI girlfriend and left his wife.

I understand if some people need someone to talk to, but when it starts to cut into your personal life with family, I think it starts to go a little overboard. What do you guys think? Have these AI relationships gotten out of hand? Or do you like the idea of having an AI girlfriend/boyfriend? Or even as a friend.

While I haven't read or heard of such thing happening in the society where I live but I can imagine the possibility of people developing bond with chat bots, or even robots, to the point that they give up their relationship. While sometimes I talk to chat bots like I do with humans (for instance, I might ask to cheer me up with a joke), I would never go far to the point of having AI chat bots as my girlfriend, or even a friend.

It is majorly people that struggle to build connections with real humans that resort to dating an AI. It is a mental fragility that calls for serious concern. AI can't give the full emotional support that a human would give.

AI companionship can offer comfort, but emotional dependence on artificial partners can blur reality and damage real relationships. It’s fine for support, yet replacing genuine human connection risks loneliness, isolation, and distorted expectations of love and empathy.

AI relationships are a big concern to me as well. It is very obvious that AI is creeping into our lives gradually everyday and it might take over the world if it continues at this pace. .
