Ordinary criticism in a workplace can feel much harsher during a depressive period, even when the feedback is reasonable. How can employees separate useful feedback from negative assumptions about themselves, and how can managers communicate without making things worse?

Depression can sometimes make workplace feedback feel much more personal than it was intended to be. When you're already struggling with low self-worth or negative thinking, even constructive criticism can feel like proof that you're failing.
