Excessive sugar intake has a lot of bad effects on human health. While weight gain and diabetes are the most common issues, excessive sugar is also very bad for mental health. There have been a lot of psychological studies that have established that heavy sugar consumption is directly related to chronic anxiety and severe depression.
If you are frequently experiencing anxiety and depression, watch your sugar intake.

There is a real connection, but it’s not as simple as “sugar causes depression.”High sugar intake can affect mood by causing blood sugar spikes and crashes, leading to irritability and fatigue. It may also increase inflammation and disrupt sleep, both linked to depression and anxiety. While not the sole cause, reducing added sugar can help support more stable mental health.
