Do you believe in loving two people at once?

Some people call it being a cheater that makes someone say they can be in love with two people at the same time but I don't see it that way. I see it as a mental disorder because there's no way someone who's sane would want to be romantically in love with two people at once.

What are your thoughts on this situation?

I do not see this as a normal behavior. I think human beings should strictly be monogamous. They are free to love and be in relationship with who ever they desire but they should be confined to one partner.

It is not possible. Love is a condition that was not meant to be multi-tasked. The emotions of a person was not wired to romantically long for more than one person at a time. Anyone that is romantically involved with more than one person only loves one of those truly.

I suppose it's possible for people who have the culture of being able to be with more than one person at a time.

That's because you'll define love and relationships differently than the norm.

For me, it's not normal or accepted but I am a part of culture where you just love one.

I think it works out for some people but it certainly wouldn't work out for me or my wife. We both like to be in a relationship with each other only, no one else. I have friends who were part of poly relationships and it worked out for them. Some religions believe that men should have multiple wives, which is fine if it works for them of course.

Calling it a mental disorder is a leap that doesn’t hold up.

People can genuinely develop strong romantic feelings for more than one person. Human attachment is complicated, and feeling something for two people isn’t, by itself, evidence of cheating or instability.

The real issue is behavior and honesty. Someone can feel conflicted and still act ethically by being clear, setting boundaries, and not deceiving anyone. On the flip side, someone can claim they “love two people” as a convenient excuse for avoiding responsibility. So no, it’s not accurate to say a sane person couldn’t feel that way.

The important question is how they handle it. Feelings are messy; choices are what reveal character.
