Loneliness and dejection are two most common symptoms of both depression and anxiety. When you are experiencing depression and anxiety, having someone to comfort you, sit beside you, giving you a hug can help a lot. According to some studies, if you get at least 4 hugs in a day, it can protect your mind from depression and anxiety.

How often do you get hugs from your friends, family, colleagues, or even strangers?

A hug can genuinely help with depression and anxiety because physical touch can lower stress hormones and increase feelings of safety and connection.

It can calm the nervous system, reduce feelings of isolation, and release oxytocin, which is linked to bonding and comfort.

I like to hug my loved ones, it is so comforting

I tend to get hugs quite often from my wife. I'm typically the one giving out hugs to those who need it but I also need to make sure I'm not crossing any boundaries. Sometimes people who are depressed don't want hugs, but if you're there to talk and listen that can go a long way too.
