Symptoms can influence communication, trust, and emotional availability. Partners may struggle to understand changing behaviors or needs during difficult periods. What relationship challenges have you noticed? How can partners create healthier communication during tough times?

It can affect positively as well as negatively. It all depends on people's nature and behavior. Some people like to support their partners who are suffering from mental health conditions, where as some people like to walk off. Even when people do not walk off, they still need the ability to understand their partner to maintain the relationship in a healthy way when the partner is suffering from mental health. My mother stayed with my father when he was struggling with clinical depression. And I stayed with my spouse when she had anxiety.

Mental health challenges can strain romantic relationships by affecting communication, energy, and emotional availability. One partner may withdraw, become more reactive, or struggle to express needs clearly, while the other may feel confused or shut out. With time, these patterns can create distance unless both people adapt with patience and clarity.
