Cluttered or chaotic environments can increase stress and reduce focus, while organized spaces may support calmness. The impact varies for each person. What kind of environment helps your mind feel clearer? How do you manage your space during difficult periods?

When the environment or the space is cluttered and chaotic, it sends a lot of visual stimuli to the brain, which ultimately increases stress and reduce focus because it overwhelms the brain. When that happens, your brain competes for attention and hinders cognitive processing. This visual noise increases cortisol, triggers "fight or flight" response, and causes decision fatigue. That's why people need clean environment or space.

I definitely feel less anxious and more focused when my environment is clean and decluttered. My wife and I have been working on decluttering our space this past week and already we're starting to feel better. We still have a bit left to do but it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

From my own experience, I realise that the state of my physical space affects my mind. I always get easily drained being in a space that is scattered. And I can't be creative. But when the space is organised, my mind is at ease.
