External expectations about “getting better” can create stress or guilt. Recovery does not always follow a visible or linear path. How do you handle pressure from others? What helps you define your own pace of recovery?

Expectations from others can add extra pressure during recovery because they create a sense that you need to “be better” faster than you actually are.

Even well-meaning support can feel like monitoring or comparison, which may lead to guilt, stress, or hiding struggles instead of processing them openly. This can slow recovery because it shifts focus from healing to performance.

Healthier recovery usually happens when expectations are realistic, flexible, and focused on progress rather than speed.
