Binge eating is when you eat way too much and may even keep eating when full. I've eaten a lot growing up and would say I overate sometimes. But I never got to a point where I just keep eating. Is binge eating as bad as they say? If someone has a problem binge eating, how do they stop it? What therapy would be needed to stop someone from such an unhealthy habit?

Overcoming binge eating needs self-awareness, therapy, and lifestyle changes. Cognitive-behavioral therapy helps address triggers and thought patterns. Establishing regular meals, managing stress, and building coping strategies reduce urges. Thankfully, I have never been a binge eater.

People cannot really get over binge eating until or unless they control their hunger hormone. Stress can destroy your appetite. You must learn to control your hormone. Avoid dieting because you will end up eating more in the end and you will feel weak.

Nor binge eating but eating too much was once my issue. For a long time I did not care about my eating habit, but when I noticed weight gain exceptionally, I became alarmed. I was surprised to find that eating too much was mainly due to stress, anxiety or depression. I was eating more when I had mental health Issue. If someone is experiencing binge eating, I guess they are also suffering some mental health conditions. Once these mental health conditions are addressed, I believe binge eating can also be controlled.

One of my best friends keeps a food diary. It really helps her to monitor what she eats, but it also forces her into accountability so she can look back and see the trend. She can tell what her triggers were that brought on the binge and help avoid those triggers, or even learn to work through them.

When she comes to visit me, I try to not support the binge eating, but we did end up going to a buffet because she and her husband both wanted to and we were in the area. That is something I regret taking her to, but we did a lot of walking to work off those calories.
