Many of us neglect mental health in our relationships without knowing. I’ve been in situations where I kept quiet just to keep peace, and honestly, it didn’t help anybody and didn't end up well. It was chaotic and I had to voice out. Now, I waste no time before I speak up. How do you personally protect your mental health while still showing up for your partner?

If you have a healthy relationship, you will also have a healthy mental health (unless you are already suffering from mental health conditions). However, if you are stuck with nagging partner, or a toxic partner, your mental health will be in a dangerous situation, and you will have to take measures to protect your mental health. You can also improve mental health by spending good times together, for instance going for a vacation, which can clear your mind.

While I always try to give my best to relationships, I always try not to lose myself to relationships. I try to make sure that I still do the things that make me happy and not cancel them for him. I would still give him his own dose of my time. I also try to make sure that I let my partner meet just 70% of my emotional needs while the rest are met by other people.

Unfortunately, many people start suffering from mental health problems when they get into a relationship because their partner could be very demanding and toxic. Under such kind of circumstances, it is always recommended to seek counselling.
