A child's anxiety can quietly change the whole family's routine. Parents may start avoiding certain places, changing plans, or allowing extra reassurance to prevent distress. At what point does supporting an anxious child become accommodation that keeps the anxiety going, and how can families find a healthier balance?

Childhood anxiety can affect the whole family, especially when a child starts avoiding school, activities, meals, bedtime, or being away from parents. Families may change their routines to keep the child comfortable. While that can help temporarily, it can also make everyday life more stressful for everyone if it becomes a regular pattern.
