Trying not to disappoint parents, partners, friends, or coworkers can become exhausting when someone constantly puts other people's expectations ahead of their own needs. How does fear of disappointing others affect anxiety and self-esteem, and why can setting reasonable boundaries feel so uncomfortable?

Fear of disappointing others can make people constantly worry about whether they’re doing enough. It can lead to saying yes when you want to say no, hiding your real feelings, or putting everyone else’s needs first. that pressure, in the long run, can leave someone emotionally exhausted and unsure of what they actually want.

I think constantly worrying about disappointing people can become exhausting. You may start saying yes when you really want to say no, just to avoid feeling guilty. Putting everyone else first can leave you frustrated, emotionally drained, and unsure whether you’re making choices for yourself or simply trying to keep others happy.

I think fear of disappointing others can slowly turn into putting their needs before your own. You may agree to things you don’t want, hide your real feelings, or feel guilty for saying no. That can create resentment and anxiety, especially when you start feeling responsible for everyone else’s happiness.
