Some see overthinking as something that can be controlled, while others see it as part of anxiety. What do you think?

I see overthinking as usually a habit, but it can become a mental health concern if it’s constant, distressing, or interferes with daily life. Occasional rumination is normal, but persistent worry, analysis paralysis, or intrusive thoughts may signal anxiety or depression that deserves attention and coping strategies.

I think it can be both. Overthinking can start as a habit shaped by stress or personality, but when it becomes persistent, intrusive, and hard to control, it can also be part of anxiety. The difference often lies in intensity, frequency, and impact on daily life.

I tend to overthink way too much, and I always thought it was a habit. However, when I reflect on what I tend to overthink, it often revolves around the things that stress or anxiety me.

I firmly believe that overthinking is more of a form of mental health and comes from anxiety.

When someone is overthinking because they want to make a big life decision, it is understandable and it is a habit at that point. But when someone is always overthinking in a loop and struggles to be distracted from the thoughts, it is a mental heath issue.
