What are your feelings on movies that extravagate mental health? For example in the movie Split with James McAvoy they make Dissociative Identity Disorder seem worse than what it is.

There are many movies that do this and there are even TV shows that do it. What films and shows have you seen that dramatize mental health and make it seem worse than what it is?

I think movies and shows that exaggerate mental health can be frustrating because they spread misinformation and reinforce stigma. For example, Split makes Dissociative Identity Disorder look far more dangerous and sensationalized than it actually is.

I’ve also noticed that shows like Criminal Minds often portray mental illness as linked to violence, which isn’t usually the case. Even One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest dramatizes psychiatric treatment in extreme ways. While these stories are entertaining, they rarely reflect real experiences and can make the public misunderstand conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or personality disorders.
