People may appear detached or unmotivated when they are actually mentally exhausted. This misunderstanding can affect relationships and responsibilities. How do you recognize emotional burnout in yourself? What helps you recover without added pressure?

For me, burnout usually shows up as low motivation, slower thinking, and small tasks feeling oddly heavy. Things I normally wouldn’t think twice about start feeling like effort, and I also get more mentally “flat” than sad or upset.

What helps most is reducing expectations for a bit instead of trying to push through. Doing less but more intentionally, getting proper rest, and removing non-essential tasks helps recovery more than forcing productivity. Even short breaks where I fully disconnect make a noticeable difference.
