Sometimes a person knows logically that a relationship or situation is fine but still feels compelled to ask for confirmation. The reassurance provides temporary relief, yet uncertainty may return later. What keeps this cycle going, and how is it different from ordinary reassurance between people?

Sometimes reassurance is less about an actual problem and more about wanting certainty that everything is still okay. Worry can make small doubts feel important, so hearing “everything’s fine” brings temporary relief. But if reassurance becomes the only way to feel calm, the need for certainty can keep coming back.
