Depressive episodes in bipolar disorder may look similar to other types of depression, but the overall condition includes periods of elevated mood or mania. What aspects of bipolar depression do you think are least understood? How does it affect your routine?

Bipolar depression is part of a condition that also includes manic or hypomanic episodes, which sets it apart from other depression types. It often involves more frequent mood shifts, mixed symptoms, and different responses to standard antidepressant treatments.

I have a friend who is bipolar. It is a really hard disorder to deal with. He can spend 2 days in bed, just sleeping. We can agree to see each other tomorrow and he just doesn't show up. And that can happen very frequently. But then again when he has to work, he MUST wake up and go to work every morning, but when he has to see me, he can simply say: Ah, he will have understanding for me. I don't think that is quite fair thing to do since he doesn't even tell me he won't come. I just show up and he isn't there.
