Self-care is essential, but it can also turn into an excuse to avoid responsibilities. Endless binge-watching or spa days might mask deeper stressors rather than resolve them. True self-care includes setting boundaries, facing challenges, and seeking help when needed. How do you balance comfort and action?

I totally agree that self-care should help us, not let us ignore our responsibilities. To find the right balance, I make time to relax, but I also check in with myself regularly. Facing problems directly while taking time to recharge leads to a better, more productive life.

Self-care becomes avoidance when it shifts from rejuvenation to escapism, using relaxation, hobbies, or wellness routines to dodge responsibilities, emotions, or tough conversations. True self-care includes facing challenges, setting boundaries, and engaging in personal growth rather than just seeking comfort.

Self-care can become avoidance when it keeps us busy without actually dealing with what’s bothering us. Taking a day off or watching something relaxing can help, but constantly distracting myself from difficult feelings usually makes them return later. Sometimes facing an uncomfortable issue is part of taking care of yourself.
