Some jobs are too demanding to switch off from. How do you create mental distance after work? Do you think “work-life balance” is still realistic in modern careers?
 
When work stress follows you home, it can spill into personal life, affecting sleep, relationships, and overall well-being. Setting boundaries, creating a clear separation between work and home, and using stress-relief routines like exercise, meditation, or hobbies can help reclaim balance.
 
Creating mental distance after demanding work requires intentional boundaries. Setting fixed hours, avoiding work emails, practicing hobbies, exercising, or mindful routines can help. “Work-life balance” is harder in modern careers, but realistic if approached as flexible boundaries and self-care rather than perfect separation. Small daily rituals make a big difference.
 
What if you work from home? Wouldn't you always have work related stress?
I think many jobs pushed people to carry burden even when leave their workplace. They might still have to work on their task even when they are at home.
 
I used to get like this when I worked in retail. I found that if I was to rant about whatever happened it would help me deal with the stress of work. Though eventually I got a new job and found that if I just shrugged things off before I left work I wouldn't bring that stress home. Eventually though I did have to leave my previous job because I was starting to deal with bringing that stress home.
