Emotional experiences may stay vivid even when facts fade. This is especially common in trauma-related conditions. How do emotional memories influence your present reactions? What helps separate past emotions from current reality?

Well, brain has different sections for processing emotions and logic. They don't work independently, they are interconnected. The limbic system is largely responsible for emotions and rapid instinctive reactions, where as the prefrontal cortex is the center is for rational thought, planning, and logical analysis. Whether people are connected with emotional memory or logical memory is depended on how their brain processes emotions and logic.
