Many people with PTSD also experience depression. Constant stress, emotional exhaustion, and changes in daily functioning can contribute to both conditions. How do these conditions interact in daily life? Which symptoms are hardest to manage together?

Depression and PTSD often occur together because they share underlying stress and trauma pathways in the brain. PTSD can come from experiencing or witnessing trauma, and the ongoing stress response can gradually lead to feelings of hopelessness, low mood, and emotional numbness, which are core features of depression.
