Why Do Anxious Children Ask the Same Questions Repeatedly?

Some children repeatedly ask parents whether something bad will happen, even after receiving an answer. The repetition can be frustrating, but it may reflect difficulty tolerating uncertainty rather than simple curiosity. Why does childhood anxiety create repeated questioning, and how can parents respond without feeding the worry?

I think anxious children may repeat questions because they’re looking for reassurance and trying to feel certain about something that worries them. Even after getting an answer, the fear may return. Repeating the question can become their way of managing that uncertainty, rather than simply trying to annoy adults.
