When life becomes emotionally overwhelming, some people stop replying to friends, cancel plans, or spend more time alone. They may want connection but lack the energy for it. Why does stress cause social withdrawal, and when can temporary solitude become a pattern that makes mental health worse?

I think some people just have to have time alone to recharge their batteries. When you've been at work all day and you've had to interact with your co-workers continuously throughout the day in order to get your work done......some people tend to shut down as soon as they get home. They just want to relax and not have to think about things. It isn't being rude......it's just how some people handle stress.
