Why does “doing nothing” sometimes feel more draining than being busy?

Have you experienced mental fatigue even on days when you didn’t do much physically? What actually helps your mind recover during low-activity days?

Sometimes doing nothing feels more exhausting because an unstructured mind can start overthinking, worrying, or replaying problems. Being busy can give us focus and a sense of purpose, while too much idle time may make stress feel louder. Rest feels more refreshing when it includes activities that genuinely recharge us.
