Why doesn't society treat mental health the same as physical health?

We all know that society tends to ignore mental health and some people in society might view it as a complete joke. Why do you believe this is the case with mental health but not physical health? Do you believe it's because people tend to have a difficult time putting themselves in other people's shoes and because of this they can never truly understand it? Is it because we're taught that empathy is weakness and it's best to ignore and push those feelings down? I'd love to hear your reasonings why you believe this is the case.

Society often separates mental and physical health due to historical stigma, lack of understanding, and visible differences in symptoms. Physical illness is easier to observe and measure, while mental health is internal and subjective. This leads to underestimation, reduced funding, and slower cultural acceptance, even though both equally affect overall wellbeing and daily functioning.
