A small mistake can stick in your mind for days, even when everyone else has forgotten it. Do you replay embarrassing moments? What helps you move on instead of reliving them?

I think it's because those moments feel much bigger to us than they do to anyone else. We replay them in our minds, while everyone else has usually forgotten them. Our brains tend to hold on to emotional memories, even when they no longer matter.

Yes, sometimes. It's surprisingly easy to replay an awkward moment long after everyone else has forgotten it. Most people are far more focused on their own lives than on someone else's mistakes. With time, those moments usually lose their emotional weight, especially after remembering that everyone has embarrassing experiences now and then.
