Many people with PTSD describe feeling constantly alert, even when there is no immediate danger. Relaxation may feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable. What makes relaxation difficult for you? What activities help you feel genuinely calm?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can make it difficult to relax because the brain stays in a heightened state of alertness, even when no danger is present. People may feel constantly on edge, easily startled, or unable to "switch off." Intrusive memories, nightmares, and hypervigilance can make rest and relaxation feel uncomfortable or even unsafe.
