According to studies, schizophrenia tends to only appear in individuals from the age of 16 all the way until 30. In rare cases people have been known to get symptoms later on in life, from 40 to 60. Interestingly enough it seems that males tend to get symptoms sooner than females with males typically getting diagnosed in their early 20s and females in their late 20's. I can't imagine being diagnosed later in life though, it's got to be tough going through most of your life without symptoms and then all of a sudden they appear.

Schizophrenia is closely linked to age because it most often appears in late adolescence or early adulthood. Symptoms commonly begin earlier in men, often in the late teens to early 20s, and slightly later in women, usually the 20s to early 30s. It’s less common for it to first appear in childhood or much later in life. Age also affects how it’s managed, since early diagnosis and treatment generally improve long-term outcomes.
