Seasonal affective disorder hits hard in winter. Are you using light therapy or exercise to lift your mood? What strategies help you combat seasonal depression?

Maximize daylight by spending time outside or using a light therapy lamp. Getting enough light improves your mood.Keep a regular sleep schedule, stay active with exercise, and maintain a balanced diet. Social connection, even virtually, and planning enjoyable activities can also help lift mood.

My daughter had SAD (seasonal affective disorder) as a teen, along with other issues. Her therapist recommended a daylight therapy lamp and she followed the instructions by her therapist for 6 weeks. It took a while of being consistent to really see any improvement. As an adult, she no longer suffers with SAD, but then again, she's outdoors more and getting real daylight, which is always preferable to artificial lighting of any kind.
