Should Video Games Show the Consequences of In-Game Violence More Seriously?

Many games allow players to cause enormous destruction while treating it as entertainment with little lasting consequence. Games such as "Red Dead Redemption 2" sometimes slow down to show the human cost of violence. Does this make violent gameplay more meaningful, or does it create a contradiction the game cannot resolve?

Personally, I think they should, especially in story-driven games. Violence can feel meaningless when characters recover instantly and nobody reacts to what happened. Showing fear, grief, damaged relationships, or lasting consequences could make violent choices feel more significant without turning every game into a moral lesson.

I think games should show the consequences of violence instead of treating it as harmless entertainment. That contrast can make the story hit harder because the player has to confront what their actions mean. Without those moments, violence can easily become just another mechanic with no emotional weight.

I definitely think games should show the consequences of violence more seriously, especially in story-driven games. If characters can kill someone and everyone forgets about it five minutes later, the violence feels meaningless. Showing grief, fear, damaged relationships, or lasting consequences would give those actions much more emotional weight.
