Everyone experiences stress, but there comes a point where it begins affecting sleep, relationships, and daily life. How do you tell the difference between a stressful week and something that needs more attention?

I think stress becomes a mental health problem when it stops feeling temporary and starts affecting everyday life. If it regularly disrupts sleep, relationships, work, or your ability to function, it's probably worth taking seriously. You don't have to wait until things become unbearable before seeking support.

Stress becomes more than everyday stress when it lasts for weeks, starts affecting your sleep, mood, relationships, work, or daily life, and doesn't improve with rest or your usual coping strategies. Feeling overwhelmed from time to time is normal, but if stress becomes constant or begins interfering with how you function, it's a good idea to reach out to a healthcare or mental health professional for support.

I start paying attention when it doesn't ease up after a few days. If I'm sleeping poorly, feeling irritable, or struggling to enjoy everyday things, that's usually a sign it's more than just a stressful week and deserves a closer look.
