War is a scary thing, most people don't want to take part in it, but some countries force their people to serve in the army. I have family who have been in the military and some who were in a world war. My uncle was in the Vietnam war, but I don't think he saw a ton of time out there. But, what about you? Do you have a family member or friend who is in the military and saw war time? Do they suffer from PTSD or are they living life fine?

I imagine seeing the atrocities of war can be very traumatizing. If you know someone who went through a war, how is their lives now or how were their lives after?

No, I have never been a victim of war or riot. I also have never met someone who has suffered because of war, but I can understand how he/she might have been affected by it. There are lots of Kashmiri whom I know have to leave their homes because they were a minority at their place and had to migrate from there. Many were tortured and killed to leave the place. How tough their life was after leaving their homes.

My country recently fought a war. However, there were very few casualties at civilian side. Our army responded bravely and also destroyed many army camps and check posts of enemies. War can have a serious effect on mental health.

I have a cousin who served in the Iraq war in the early 2000's. When he came back home he was really struggling, and he would often go to my parents for support since my mom practically raised him and his brothers when they were super young in the early 80's. He's doing much better these days, but he really struggled in his mid to late 20's.

There was a 10 years of bloody conflict in my home country, but thankfully, I wasn't a victim. We did receive threats from the rebels but that was nothing compared to what some of our relatives went through. One of my relatives was a witness to a deadly fight. A lot of rebels died in front of he. She died due to trauma. Another relatives was severely beaten by the rebels.

I have not been a victim of war, but I do know someone who was on the frontline during the Afghanistan war, who I went to school with; he was injured in the war after being shot in the head. Luckily, it was not too bad as his helmet slowed the bullet, preventing it from causing too much damage.

He now struggles with the things he saw and went through during his time of serving.
