Always trying to keep everyone happy can leave little room for personal preferences, rest, or honest disagreement. Over time, people-pleasing may create exhaustion and hidden resentment. How does chronic people-pleasing affect mental health, and why can changing this behavior feel threatening even when someone knows it is unhealthy?

I think constant people-pleasing can become emotionally exhausting because you’re always worrying about keeping everyone else happy. For example, you might agree to plans when you really want to rest, then feel resentful afterward. In the long run, ignoring your own needs can affect confidence, boundaries, and overall emotional well-being.

Constantly trying to keep everyone happy can become exhausting because people may ignore their own needs to avoid disappointing others. This can lead to stress, resentment, and difficulty setting boundaries. I think caring about others is important, but it becomes unhealthy when someone’s self-worth depends entirely on others’ approval.
